EartFest 2011 will be on Saturday, April 16, 2011
Knoxville's annual celebration of Earth Day
EarthFest, an annual celebration of Earth Day in Knoxville, has had a major impact on our community promoting environmental awareness and opportunities for individuals to reduce their environmental footprint on East Tennessee. Over the past eleven years, this event has grown from attracting a couple of thousand attendees in Concord Cove Park to being one of the premier environmental festivals in the Southeast at the World's Fair Park-out growing World's Fair Park and then expanding even further to Pellissippi State Community College.
Environmental Awareness
Environmental Awareness is the main focus of EarthFest. EarthFest has worked to create public awareness of such environmental issues important in East Tennessee, such as clean air, water, sustainable transportation, waste reduction and recycling, and urban forestation, just to name a few of the event's themes. Special attention is given to the creation of a day-long kids' activity area, that emphasizes creative and fun educational opportunities around each year's theme. Energy conservation, solar power, green waste, recycling, and water pollution are all on the agenda at EarthFest.
EarthFest 2011 at Pellissippi State
EarthFest 2011 is going to be held at Pellissippi State's main campus off of Hardin Valley Road in Knoxville, TN. Join us on April 16 from 10am-5pm for a day of food, fun, entertainment, and lots of environmental education opportunities. Admission is FREE!
EarthFest is a Waste-Free Event
EarthFest 2011 is aiming to be a Zero-Waste Event again! In 2010 thanks to your efforts only 6.25 pound of trash had to be sent to the land fill. Approximately 880 pounds of materials was either recycled or composted. Exhibitors and food vendors are required to control the types of materials they sell or distribute. EarthFest organizers, sponsors and volunteers will provide recycling and composting opportunities for everything distributed at the event.
